Behind the festivities of the Great American Smokeout are serious efforts of thousands of volunteers from the American Cancer Society hardworking visiting schools, malls and workplaces to publicize events and distribute information of on quitting smoking. Nonsmokers are also ready to “adopt” smokers during the day, support them with advice and snacks. Support continues for those who decide to start smoking again after the Great American Smokeout is over. The rules are simple: You just quit for 24 hours Smokeout. The wonderful thing is that you will not be alone; You can exchange tips, jokes and groans with the other “quitters,” nonsmokers and volunteers of the American Cancer Society is encouraging you. Even if you are not going to quit permanently, a day off smoking is one of the experience you will discover that it is possible and many others around you are also taking the throw.
