NCADD announces this year’s Alcohol Awareness Month theme which is “For the Health of It: Early Education on Alcoholism and Addiction.” It is a fact that the key to family recovery, personal recovery and community change is alcohol awareness. NCADD or also known as National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Inc. has 29 years of saving and improving lives through recovery, treatment and prevention.
Since the year 1987, the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Inc. sponsors the NCADD Alcohol Awareness Month to increase the public understanding and awareness, reduce the stigma and at the same time encourage the local communities to focus on alcohol related issues and alcoholism. It is very important that every individual has an apparent and superior understanding and awareness about the signs of alcoholism, drug addiction, effects of alcohol, alcoholism treatment, symptoms of alcoholism and how to stop drinking.
This year, the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Inc. highlights the significance of public health issue of underage drinking which causes a problem with community, having family consequences and devastating individuals.
The month of April will be filled with national events and local state, aimed at educating individuals about the prevention and treatment of alcoholism. The local affiliate of National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Inc together with community organizations, churches, colleges and schools will sponsor activities that will encourage families and individuals to acquire help for alcohol related issues and problems as well as create awareness.
It is true that underage drinking is critical to securing a healthy future for the entire youth of America. It also requires cooperative effort from alcohol retailers and manufacturers, entertainment industry, government agencies, business leaders, community organizations, schools and parents.
According to the President and CEO of National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Inc, “underage drinking is a complex issue that one can only be solved through a sustained and cooperative effort.”
One of the integral parts of Alcohol Awareness Month is Alcohol-Free Weekend, which is designed to raise the public awareness about the use of alcohol and how it may be affecting community, families and individuals. National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Inc extends an open invitation to all young and old Americans to participate in three alcohol-free days.
